twenty questions with a coinTwenty Questions with a coin XIII

Okie dokie. Today's coin is a very special commemorative Canadian quarter, supposedly the only painted coin in history. And I can see why! This thing is only five months old and already the red enamel of the memorial poppy in the middle is all but worn away. Still, though, an excellent tribute to our war veterans, and a fine candidate for our little game. Say hello, quarter!

(Tails) Mm.

Come on now, let's not start out grumpy.

(Tails) Feh.

Hoo boy.
1) Is it animal?

(Heads) Yes.

2) Is it a person?

(Tails) No.

3) Is it alive?

(Tails) No.

4) Is it edible?

(Tails) No.

5) Is it wearable?

(Tails) No.

6) Is it bigger than a breadbox?

(Tails) No.

My, what a profoundly negative coin.
7) Is the animal from which this is derived a vertebrate?

(Tails) No.

8) Insect?

(Heads) Yes!

9) In its adult stage?

(Heads) Yes.

Hmm.... something inedible that comes from adult bugs... not honey, that would be edible.... as would many bug carcasses...
10) Does the insect in question have to die to produce this thing?

(Heads) Yes.

Okay, so we're down to dried up dead bug carcasses, and bee venom.
11) Is it bee venom?

(Tails) No.

Oh, thank goodness.
12) Does the insect in question typically fly from place to place?

(Tails) No.

Hmm... what are some insects that don't fly in their adult stage? 13) Is it a beetle?

(Tails) No.

14) Is it a worm? I mean, obviously not an earthworm, that's not an insect, I mean... is it worm-shaped? Vermiform?

(Tails) No.

15) Is it one of the colony insects, like an ant or termite?

(Heads) Yes.

16) Termite?

(Heads) Yes.

Okay, we're obviously not talking about chewed wood or termite mounds here, those would be Vegetable and Mineral, respectively. And, of course, termites don't have to die to produce them.
17) Are we talking about a big ol' pile of dried up dead termite corpses?

(Heads) Yes.

Well, hooray.
18) Anything else I need to know?

(Tails) No.

Well, great, that was relatively painless. Hope the drawing goes well. Thanks for your assistance, commemorative quarter. Do you have anything else to say?

(Tails) No.

Suit yourself.

Termites!
