But they do seem to help each other to find their flaws, recognize them for what they are, and maybe even find the willingness to fix them. At least she's managed to realize that his getting her a job at the Capsaicin Lounge was him trying to help her, I honestly wasn't sure if she'd see that or not.

We're also at a point where we can't take a couple of centuries to 'rest' as you put it. Until we have the pollution problems under control, and are no longer in danger of destroying ourselves through over-population, slowing down to 'rest' is just as dangerous trying to force instant change. The pr...

Re: 855: The Shepherd And The Chef
You're misunderstanding what I'm saying. A Hebrew combatant was not allowed to rape and then discard a woman, as *every other civilization* did. If a Hebrew combatant wanted to have sex with a captured woman, he HAD to marry her. I'm not trying to defend the way women were treated in the Ancient Ne...

Re: 862: Helpful
I've lived in the same town nearly the entirety of my life, and I'm in my thirties now. I can count all of my IRL friends on one hand. Does that bother me? No, because I'm a natural homebody, not a social butterfly. Now, this doesn't mean I hardly know anyone, I know a lot of people, but almost none...

No, I think he meant that he expects Cheryl to be of the opinion that Jamie was more interested in revenge than redemption. Honestly, I can't say that I particularly disagree with him. Do remember, Cheryl has only known Jamie for about a week, and it's been an uphill battle the entire way for Jamie....

There are also those who seek to die no matter what, and they will usually succeed. Also, that wasn't a specific 'you' that was a generic 'you' for the majority of society as a whole. Yes, there are people who truly make an effort to help others before said others get to the point of attempting suic...

Re: 859: That's one way to wrap up a comic
And have you taken a look at what our attempted suicide rates relative to population are in relation to 50, 100, 150, and 200 years ago? It is steady going up, and the pace is increasing drastically. Why is that? Because as long as someone is trying to live you don't give a crap about them, but as s...

Re: 859: That's one way to wrap up a comic
And that stems from the idea that preventing any death is a good thing, which I find highly debatable at best. Also, by making a fuss about preventing suicides you are legitimizing it as being a means to "cry for help", while if you didn't try to bed over backwards preventing it many peopl...

@sirgarberto: So, when did Tailsteak show what the other guy told the cops? Yes, after the fact Tailsteak established that the cops in his setting can't tell the difference between different black guys, but if the black guy who was reported for the mugging has an ID on him that labels him a minor th...
