Re: 414 - "Not Realistic"
I find myself suspecting that Ellen has some manner of long-running, and possibly buried, issue with some specific religious person or persons. That kind of vehemence seems odd to me, otherwise. I mean, speaking as a religious person, and considering the clear-thinking people I know either personall...

Is it? Servitude, certainly, but if they're paid for it and able to leave at any reasonable time I don't see that it's any more slavery than, say, enlisting in an army or being a waiter.Globus wrote:But that's slavery!GreatLimmick wrote:Some Amish business owners hire non-Amish employees to (...) take orders.

Re: 409 - Mayhem Point!
So... if I understand correctly, you're saying the important thing is the presence or absence of (naturally-)colored* skin, rather than whether that skin makes sense with the characters' backstories?
*As opposed to, say, skin that's been subjected to tattoos or magic markers or hair-dye accidents.

Re: 410: Department of Motor VehBEAR ON A BULLDOZER
Lucky. After my family moved to another state a few years back, we were there for... four hours? Five? I know it rounded to an integer larger than three, that's for certain. Then it turned out that I didn't have all the right paperwork, so I had to go back. Twice, actually, because of misunderstandi...

What's all this about metal psychics? Is it those gypsy fortune teller machines that do nothing? Or am I thinking of those guys from X-COM? You are thinking Mistborn and the tenth* metal. *Yes, I know. I know that too. Listen, I don't just use anything for my avatar. *attempts to parse the assumed ...

Oh, I had forgotten that. I'm not checking, though. Still, if that's the case she is REALLY over-valuing it. Especially since it implies low-grade materials, anyway. Query. Do you knit or crochet? Or perhaps have any close friends who do? Because if the minimum wage she's considering when making he...

Re: #402 - Cast on
I think, perhaps, I need to refresh my knitting knowledge. I was trying to remember how to cast on the rest of Row 1, and kept coming up with the chain stitch. Which is crochet, rather than knitting, and extremely hard to do without a hooked end. (It's also not something I enjoy overmuch, but as far...

Re: Cheryl's Middle Name
Joseph and his brothers were all founders of one, for a total of 12 tribes. Thirteen, technically, due to some confusing stuff about Levi and the sons of Joseph (Ephraim and Manasseh). And, Godric, Laban was kind of a jerk in other ways, too. Messing with which sheep Jacob was entitled to take with...

Because knitting is awesome (if not quite as much so as crochet), and Tailsteak couldn't wait to get to it?Horizon wrote:Why are we here? Why is the previous plotline just dropped like a tetris line piece?

Re: 399: Vigilance Committee of One
You know what Cheryl's attitude reminds me of? The Ace Attorney games. Where it's not so much "innocent until proven guilty" as "guilty until the defense lawyer badgers someone into freaking out and confessing on the witness stand", and where literally every prosecutor seems to t...
